A prediction of expanded Medicaid had been less use of emergency facilities. Yet, Science on January 2nd reported that Medicaid expansion in Oregon actually increased emergency room visits 40%. However, this occurred with low-income adult Oregonians who gained coverage through the lottery in 2008, not under the Affordable Care Act.
